Togehter with Paul Auls & me

"I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance".

Trance Dance is one of the oldest methods of coming back into movement with our own life force!

Many of us know the power of a dark, buzzing techno club. Loud, rhythmic music. Bodies moving freely in communion. A feeling of timelessness and ecstasy. Yet, many of us also know the down sides of those spaces.

In queer trance dance we can still get high - but on our own supply, - and our own pace! Our bodies can freely express from inside out, and we can truly move like no one is watching - because nobody is!

From the earliest moments of known human history, trance dance accompanied ancient rituals, spiritual gatherings and social events.

We’ll be using rhythmic sounds, live drumming and percussions in combination with intense breathing and the body’s natural impulses for movement.

As space holders we accompany the journey with smudging and energy work.

When the body starts to dance without being controlled by our everyday life consciousness, the soul / life force / sub conscious / your inner unicorn (call it what you like!) starts to take over.

Through blind-folds and a safe container, our senses are heightened and expand beyond the perceivable.

As modern humans, we have lost our traditions of daily dancing, voicing and stomping in community.

Spaces in which we can freely experience & express our bodies, hearts and minds are especially important to a queer spirit.

How can we feel our body as a self-owned and self-evident queer vibrating shelter?

To come together in a safe room of shared expressions, questions and longings is the core of *Queer Wild Ones* Trance Dance.

  • liberating for body, mind & spirit
  • unleash hidden and suppressed parts of your queerness.
  • re-align us with our wild queer core, - as loud or soft that may be.
  • experience a deeper sense of identity and connectedness.
  • encounter a different sense of community.
  • get high on your own supply!

Let's be real. Most people do not dance "like nobody is watching". We dance from ideas, patterns, from what is perceived as attractive or safe. And there are good reasons for it.

But: how would it feel if there is truly nobody watching? How would you move if you are not busy with dancing but being danced? What will happen when you get in touch with the power of expanding consciousness through your body, - and watch where it takes you?

  • wear or bring light clothes
  • feel free to bring your own favorite blindfold, but we will also have enough for everyone
  • bring your own water bottle
  • if you like, bring a little snack to share for our landing picnic afterwards

QUEER SENSITIVITY - a somatic based workshop
Saturday, 27.04.2024

facilitated by Benjamin Block and Jochen Stechmann

This workshop will explore the topic of ‘queer sensitivity’ – a quality that empowers us in our Queerness and empathy for life and that nourishes our ability to love ourselves and others.
Breathe, move, dance, expand, talk, shake, let go, create… Let us claim and celebrate our ‘queer superpower’ in a community of fellow queer people.

Who is this for?
Do you feel a calling to develop and sensitise your individual queerness? Do you wish to get a more embodied sense of your queer self? Then this workshop is for you – regardless of your level of experience with this kind of work. Let’s learn, move, dance, breathe and explore together, inviting the uniqueness of each and every one.

Why sensitivity?
Our queer way of loving has not been given to us for granted. We had to take many decisions to bring to life what makes us different. And often we had to do this while being in conflict with what is considered as “normal”. And yes, these experiences have surely left their marks on our hearts. But even though our past might have been difficult, we can today use it as a source of energy! Supporting each other we can reconnect to the strength of our decisions in a deeper way. We can be proud of what we have achieved, and let our love and our queer light shine brighter and brighter

Usually when I call myself queer it takes some kind of effort. I need to think. But now I can feel it in my whole body. This is me. There is no doubt about it. It is perfect this way.”

(a participant after the last workshop)

What will we explore?
In this workshop we will deal with the questions below – in bodywork, movement and dialogue.
How can we trust ourselves and each other queerly. As a physical, deep down feeling?
How can we feel our body as a self owned and self-evident queer shelter or safe space?
Which parts of yourself do you want to manifest more?
How can you embrace and empower the process of your own queer embodiment?
Can you feel more qualities directly? Are they powerful, light, earthy, angular, fluid, careful, amorphous, passionate, emerald green, grumpy, fragile, soft

Is it a safer space?
The workshop holds a mindful, playful and trauma informed space of sharing, unfolding and extending, trust and growth. We will respect our boundaries, without excluding, and will have the chance to connect and support each other physically, mentally, emotionally.

Who is facilitating?
As facilitators we are confident to be able to hold and carry different dynamics and spaces. It is essential for us to constantly evolve ourselves and to learn with and from our participants*

Benjamin is a gender-queer, feminist, open-hearted, sensitive human.
They are passionate about their lifelong research on embodiment, healing, personal growth & spirituality. Benjamin draws experience from more than 15 years of theater and dance work, as well as over 10 years of being a practitioner in holistic bodywork. They hold the german degree of ‘Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie’ and offer a combination of different methods and formats in both individual sessions as well as various workshop settings. Benjamin loves to support people to reconnect with the wisdom and potential of their bodies and hearts.

Jochen is a queer trauma therapist working as Somatic Experiencing- and NARM-practitioner in Berlin. They have a background in a variety of bodywork, dance and mathematics. Jochen passionately acknowledges the reality of any kind of feelings and emotions, and holds space for people to use them as a source of energy (instead of looking at them as a problem).

Embodied Pride

Being confident, authentic & trustful in your own skin.

Celebrating diversity as strength.

Connecting to our authentic pride helps us to boost our vivid love;

our love helps us to heal and spread healing, to influence our lifes and to stand confident for what we want and what we dont want.
Its going to be summer and pride season as well. Wich is not particular relevant but gives another change to maybe practice our pride while connectiing with our body and heart even more, showing ourselves outside, marching, gathering with others in these days...

What a participant wrote about it:

"It was a truly soothing and very special day for me and I would like to thank Benjamin with all my heart for it, especially for the perspective to scoop out of abundance.-that is so rare and so important when we want to create something positive in this world.

I finally felt far away from all kind of "labels" ,but simply as a human being who does not have to apologize for anything, and has not to fit into any drawer and is allowed to connect to others at the same time.

I hope it will continue for us all on this path!

Pride = a feeling, deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated and connected, or from qualities that are admired.

The word pride can be easily stereotyped, overused and misunderstood.

And yet it is an significant topic for most queer people.

How have certain experiences of our (collective) history shaped our bodies, our behavior and our identity?

Which conclusions and fixed point of views are maybe keeping us from consciously perceiving how powerful we are today?

This workshop is an approach to connect to our authentic pride as a source of our individual and collective growth & strength:

A source we can use to empower ourselves, our health and well-being as well as our relationships towards others and the world.

We will empower our visions and special talents through strengthening our body awareness, embracing our courage and trusting the abilities of our bodies to expand and heal in any emotional/ internal level.

Connecting to the different individual qualities of pride, trusting our hearts and using that energy to follow our desires and dreams...

Consciously embodying the freedom we love and admire so much.

We will learn, move and explore together, feel the power of each and every one, create a space of trust and growth, have the chance to connect with each other and support each other in different ways...

A safe space of emotional and physical extension and unfolding.

One very important part will be to connect to our past as a source of our wisdom & strenght: We detect old counter-productive intentions dynamics and transform them into something vivid and heathly for our life today.

We will allow to listen more specifically to our internal body, train attention in different ways, finding more inner silence and trust by connecting the mind with the body. A combination of movement, simple and effective excercises, mindfulness as well as voice and writing practices - so we´ll breathe, move, dance, expand, write, talk, shake, let go, invite...

Come and join as you are, with your desire to explore and connect.
With your curiosity and your doubts as well as your wishes...
The workshop is open to anyone, with or without movement/ bodywork experience. The number of participants is limited. So please reserve your place! (each date can be booked individually)

The workshop will be held in English and German. There will be translation.

For any questions, please don´t hesitate to contact me.
